Why Disney Infinity and Skylanders aren't really simmilar

Most people take a glance at Disney Infinity and think it's just a Skylanders clone. It's not. That is so far from the truth it's not even funny. Skylanders is an easy to learn, linear (not always a bad thing), simple game that pretty much anyone can understand, pick up a controller and play. But there's a twist. You actually have to buy little figurines. The novelty alone of having little intractable figurines is a major selling point for Skylanders. It adds that fun we all get from collectibles with video games.

Disney Infinity is a whole different type of game though. You still collect little figurines but with Disney Infinity, they're all Disney characters that everyone recognizes. That's not the only difference, however. Disney Infinity, instead of offering linear levels, offers an open-world experience. You can jump, drive cars, ride horses, and fly planes. Not different enough? Well what if I told you you can make your own mini games, maps, and racetracks? It's similar to the sandbox mode in Garry's Mod (except it's called "Toy Box" mode). As you can see, the to games are completely different with different gameplay, characters, and stories.
